The experimentation above led to the development below, and these images were created by using the letters cut out of the books placed on paper/board ad photographed. I think these have a slightly more subtle and abstract look, which work well as imagery for a poster as it will make the typography and information more relevant and noticeable.

Leeds Library Promotional Campaign - Imagery Change
After a crit it was mentioned that the photos of text popping out of the books looked slightly flimsy and not very strong, and it was suggested that I cut into books instead. Below you can see examples of this. I think this effect is too bold and will take away from the information to be placed on the posters.

Leeds Library Promotional Campaign - Crit
After a crit I had, people mentioned they liked the imagery but felt the colours were old and really dated the work. This is not really something I can help as these are the colours of Leeds City Council, but Justin said I could create a version of the promotional work that is more my style. So I will make some changes to colours and fonts, which are more my style and I think this will create a more appealing contemporary aesthetic. It was also mentioned that I could try and cut into the books to give the imagery a bit more of a solid feel instead of the typography sticking out of the books. I will try this to see how it affects the imagery.

Leeds Library Promotional Campaign - Leaflet/Flyer Development
The images below show my development of my designs for the Libraries promotional material. The images below include imagery and layouts for the leaflet the library currently use for information (of which I used the body copy for) an A6 flyer to be designed and a magazine advert that will be placed in the local magazine "The Leeds Guide" My initial images are at the bottom of this post and as you see images closer to the top of the post they are the more final designs.

These are the changes I have made in relation to what was said after my sign up surgery with Justin. I have decided to focus my designs on Fedrigoni's range of coloured papers called "The Sirio Range"

Ikea Catalogue Promotion - Concept/Idea
After a crit of this project people mentioned that they liked the cut out typography from my initial catalogue experiments. These were just an experiment that I had planned to take no further, but as the majority said they were more interesting than other parts of the experiment, so this is a concept I will develop. I am thinking about utilising the colours on the cut out typography sections from the catalogues, that split the catalogue into sections of the home, such as Living room, dining room, bedroom etc. I also want to include something that you will only understand or know once you have looked in the catalogue, for example page numbers that products are on, names of products or ranges of products as this will encourage people to look in the catalogue.

Ikea Catalogue Promotion - Experimentation
To promote the Ikea catalogue I thought it would be interesting to use an actual catalogue, to cut into it and transform it into a promotional item. Below you can see my experiments with a Muji catalogue and an Ikea catalogue. I used a muji catalogue as I wanted to experiment with a different catalogues paper quality. I initially wanted to create something that was just an item of interest so people would walk up to the pieces and want to know more (which could be useful for in store promotion) upon which they would pick up a catalogue. Then I started to think it could be interesting if they catalogue pieces were shaped to spell the name Ikea, just by folding certain parts of the catalogue to form letters of the word Ikea, such as the Ikea catalogue below to make I and the Muji catalogue below to make K.
