Below you can see the wide range of experimental notebooks/notepads. I used the same paper (gridded paper, with a plain back to it) for all the notebooks and experimented with the following binding methods:

3 hole pamphlet stitched
5 hole pamphlet stitched
Japanese stab binding
Perfect binding
Comb binding
3 hole pamphlet stitched with decorative thread
...and a simple elastic band.
