Leeds Library Promotional Campaign - Silhouette Idea

I thought a concept using silhouettes of famous authors would be interesting imagery to use for the promotional material for the library. Below you can see my small examples of some authors - Virginia Wolf, William Faulkner and James Joyce. I thought they would add an interesting element of interest as people would try to guess who was who and see if they were right. One draw back for this idea would be the fact that not all authors have distinguishing features, so they would be very hard to recognise, plus if this was to be developed and used for a Leeds City Council, would copyright come into play, due to images being used to create silhouettes. Also this idea is not very child friendly and if children's cartoon characters were used for their silhouettes, this would also bring up copyright issues. Through looking at book authors and books as research, I have seen a few book plate images that I think could work quite well as imagery for the library and will experiment with this next.
